PVDF Resin (Water Treatment Membrane Grade)
High-purity polyvinylidene fluoride for membranes, coatings and battery binders
Product Overview
PVDF resin (polyvinylidene fluoride, CAS 24937-79-9) is a high-performance fluoropolymer supplied as a fine white powder. Our membrane grade dissolves cleanly in common solvents such as DMAc and NMP and is designed for producing hollow-fiber and flat-sheet ultrafiltration and microfiltration membranes by phase inversion.
Compared with traditional membrane materials such as PES, PS and PAN, PVDF membranes offer far better resistance to oxidants, acids and cleaning chemicals, longer service life and stable high flux. VerdantChem supplies multiple grades — for water treatment membranes, weather-resistant PVDF coatings and lithium battery binders — with consistent batch quality and full technical support.

Frequently Asked Questions
What is the difference between homopolymer and copolymer PVDF?+
Homopolymer PVDF is made only from vinylidene fluoride and offers the highest crystallinity, strength and chemical resistance. Copolymer PVDF includes a co-monomer such as HFP, giving more flexibility and better solubility, which suits certain coatings, films and battery binders.
What grade of PVDF is used for water treatment membranes?+
Membrane production normally uses a high-molecular-weight homopolymer grade with good solubility in DMAc or NMP, which gives strong fibers and a uniform pore structure. Tell us your process (hollow fiber or flat sheet, NIPS or TIPS) and we will recommend a grade.
Why choose PVDF instead of PES or PAN membranes?+
PVDF tolerates sodium hypochlorite and other cleaning chemicals much better, so membranes last longer and keep their flux under frequent chemical cleaning — especially in MBR and municipal water treatment.
Can I get samples, and what is the lead time?+
Yes. Samples are available for qualification testing. Lead time depends on grade and quantity — contact our export team with your application and volume for a quotation and the full TDS / SDS.
